Two minutes before the ceremony, it started to rain. Guests reached for umbrellas while everyone paused to see what the weather would do. Instead of moving everything indoors, they waited. The rain eased, the ceremony stayed outside, and the rest of the day unfolded much as they had imagined it. Earlier that morning, the bride had wandered through the grass between moments of getting ready, laughing her way through the pace of the day, while the bridesmaids explored the gardens and stone paths around the property. By the end of it all, damp shoes and a little mud on a dress hardly seemed to matter.
